History
Mrs Morris is our history subject leader. This is what she says about her subject. History at St Paul’s is a chance for our children to investigate what came before. To discover significant people, amazing events and world changing discoveries. It is a chance to use historical artifacts, secondary sources and a variety of clues to find out about the past. Knowing and understanding more about the past and what has come before, helps us to understand more about about how we live our lives in modern society. |
Our History Curriculum
In KS1 we feel the topics such as How did Nurses of the Past make our Hospitals Better? What was Life like in World War I? and our local history topic How did the Kay Family Change the Textile Industry in Bury? ties in with our schools nurturing values and offer important links with our local area.
In KS2 we also chose certain topics such as the Year 6 topic of Who were the Windrush Generation?, as we have a lot of pupils who are new arrivals to the country join our school. We feel it is important to show children how important immigration is how it has impacted on British History. Units of work such as Why did Henry VIII reform the Church of England? was chosen as it covers the origins of our church. This is vital as our church's beliefs and teachings are the thread that runs through the whole of our school curriculum.
